PET2Market is your PET physician liaison - going out and visiting with doctors and their staff to discuss PET and how they might use it in their own practice, facilitating the consultative relationship between the referring and the interpreting physicians. My name is Marishka Pilch, founder of PET2Market. I love to go door to door to talk with physicians and their staff about PET, what it is, and how to use it in their practice. PET is a revolutionary diagnostic tool with many advantages and benefits for oncologists, surgeons, pulmonolgists, internists, and even family practictioners. But I have found that not all physicians are aware the power of PET. Many think it is just a tool for oncologists, or another fancy gadget for Radiology and the Nuclear Medicine folks. As a result, they are missing out on the powerful ways in which it can improve their patient care and help them practice better medicine. My job, my mission, is to bridge that gap through a variety of educational means, and to facilitate the consultative relationship between the referring doctors and your Radiologists or interpreting physicians.
I also work with physicians’ staff on scheduling issues. In addition to informing them of scheduling and documentation requirements and updates, I help them understand the importance of PET and how it can change their patients’ lives.
Medical professionals also need to understand how to successfully get the insurance companies to pay for PET. PET is not a new imaging modality. Medicare continues to revise their coverage policy, and I help communicate these exciting - and often confusing - changes. Physicians and their staff need to understand the difference between what indications are appropriate for PET, and what indications will be paid for by insurance. PET has many beneficial applications that are not necessarily reimburseable by insurance. I help my clients, and their clients (the referring physicians), sort through the rules and streamline the process.
Another extremely valuable tool is Case Studies to showcase the benefits of PET. PET2Market has an extensive archive of case studies that it has collected over the years. These can be customized for your site, with your own logo and scheduling information. I can also work with your radiologists to design and develop your own case studies.
